We worked with Rachel at Made In Bedford to transform their space in Bedford town centre to the specification of her design ideas and concepts. We created a bespoke, reclaimed kitchen unit with storage, a sink, drainer, counter and bespoke vintage spoon handles. We hand crafted tables from timber boards found the outbuildings at Rachel's farm, adding locally sourced hair pin legs for a sleek design finish. We customised the space (once used by the Corn Exchange) by cladding dividing glass panels with reclaimed pallet wood and designing bespoke card display shelves and product rails. The bespoke product shelving was made with the same reclaimed timber to match the kitchen design with compartments for each Bedford maker to display their handmade goods. We added castors to the base of the shelves to allow for ease of movement for security when events happened in the Corn Exchange. It was extremely important to Rachel and the team to create a space that was not only beautiful but also completely sustainable. We worked with recycled, reused and upcycled elements throughout to achieve the perfect aesthetic.
